OBJECTIVE: To examine the development and directions of research, activity and productivity of scientists on stigma in psychiatry. DESIGN: Complete retrospective study. METHODS: We performed a content analysis of scientific publications using PubMed database (National Medical Library, USA) as a source of information. PubMed search was performed by term «psychiatry AND stigma»; articles published in 1983-2008 years were included. Time series were composed and their analysis was performed using correlation coefficient (R2).
