Although psychiatric co-morbidities in forms of affective and anxiety disorders are regarded as the most frequent complications of temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), the data on risk factors for their development are controversial or rather absent. It concerns as the neurobiological variables of epilepsy, as the role of premorbid personality structure. The aim of the current study was to evaluate the effect of different premorbid personality constructs in relation to motor lateralization (ML) and focus laterality (FL) on affective and anxiety co-morbid pathology development in patients with TLE. Ninety nine patients were included into study. Several different groups of patients in relation to combination of ML and FL have been formed. The Toronto Alexithymia scale (TAS-26) and Munich Personality test (MPT) were used for assessment of personality traits. The handedness was evaluated using Annett’s scale. Among studied patients were 69 right-handers and 30 left-handers.
