Activities of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and catalase in erythrocytes of schizophrenic patients were investigated in dynamics of pharmacotherapy with traditional antipsychotics. There was revealed a reduced glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase activity and increased catalase activity at the admission to the clinic before pharmacotherapy as compared with controls. After six weeks of antipsychotics therapy there were observed the normalization of catalase activity, while glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase activity continues to decline
